Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) is a government agency of Bangladesh under the ministry of commerce, entrusted with the responsibilities of promoting export of the country. It was established in 1978. Imparting training for HRD; Conducting studies, surveys, research, etc. for expansion and diversification of export and administering and monitoring of RMG quota. EPB also assists the Ministry of Commerce in formulating policies related to the export of the country.

Actually, EPB is a semi-autonomous organization under the ministry of commerce of Bangladesh. The affairs of the Bureau are administered by a board of management where the honorable Minister from commerce is the ex-official’s chairman, 4 members reporting different chamber of commerce and trade associations, and 9 high officials nominated by the government representing trade-related minister/department. Without its head office in Dhaka, it has three regional offices in Chittagong, Khulna, Rajshahi. In addition, there are three branch offices at Sylhet, Comilla, and Narayangonj.
It is mainly responsible for:
a) Coordinating export development efforts at different sectors and production levels;
b) Formulating and adopting of policy and program for active promotion of exports;
c) Coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating national export performance and analyzing export trends;
d) Carrying out promotional activities in product development & expansion of supply-side capacity;
e) Exploring markets of exportable abroad;
f) Collecting and disseminating trade information to the stakeholders;
g) Organizing participation in international trade fairs abroad;
h) Imparting training for HRD;
i) Conducting studies, surveys, research, etc. for expansion and diversification of export and administering and monitoring of RMG quota.
j) EPB also assists the Ministry of Commerce in formulating policies related to the export of the country.
What Is the Present Structure of EPB?
Export Promotion Bureau functions with its Head Office in Dhaka. It has 3 regional offices in Chittagong, Khulna, and Rajshahi. In addition, there are 3 branch offices at Sylhet, Comilla, and Narayangonj.
